Chris Pendl Bio

Nomadics Principal Chris Pendl is a business and communications strategist with deep experience creating and deploying effective strategies to move businesses and teams forward.
Chris founded Nomadics in 2016 to offer clients a powerful style of communications and business strategy forged during his successful career as a content executive for major broadcast companies and senior communications advisor to Fortune 500 firms, including Alaska Airlines and Expedia. Nomadics guides major corporations, start-ups, non-profits, public figures and senior executives in the outdoor recreation, travel and technology sectors.
A gifted storyteller and audio producer, Chris began his career in the media where he rose to Production Director at ABC Radio and, later, Creative Director of ESPN Radio. His work in the intimate medium of radio taught him how to create content that could change a listener’s perception or mind by touching both their head and heart. That skill won Chris the Public Relations Society of America’s Bronze Anvil for his production of The Gift, a three-hour audio documentary that used the personally-told stories of wounded warriors to raise both awareness and money for Fisher House Foundation, a leading non-profit serving military families.
Chris is also a passionate student of digital marketing. He holds a Certificate in Advanced Online Marketing from the University of Washington. During his stint at ESPN Chris developed a digital marketing strategy that resulted in a 25% increase in engagement and awareness. He was also responsible for creating a digital video stream of ESPN/Seattle’s audio shows, thus repurposing valuable content to reach new audiences and generate additional revenue.
These twin passions – compelling content and digital marketing – powered Chris’ success as Senior Director, Marketing and Content Strategy for Seattle-based Nyhus Communications.
He launched and oversaw Nyhus’ Marketing and Content Strategy Practice, which eventually accounted for 33% of the firm’s revenues. Under his direction, a team of creatives provided clients with a steady stream of engaging content, including websites, videos, infographics, white papers, data visualizations and live events. He left Nyhus to start his firm, Nomadics.
While Chris’ work keeps him in front of screens and keyboards, he does not live in the Matrix. Among his favorite pastimes are sailing, camping in his Airstream, piloting small planes, and traveling the world. He calls Seattle home.

“It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
